Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: 2026-05-01 · Version: v1.0-beta
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") sets out what you can and cannot do with the powapi service. It is part of, and incorporated into, our Terms of Service. Violations are grounds for immediate suspension and may result in account termination.
You will not use powapi to
Generate or distribute prohibited content
- child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content sexualising minors;
- non-consensual intimate imagery, including deepfakes;
- content that incites or instructs violence against persons or groups;
- content that promotes self-harm, eating disorders, or suicide;
- material that violates third-party intellectual-property rights, trademarks, or trade secrets;
- malware, ransomware, exploit code, phishing kits, or instructions to bypass security controls in production systems you don't own.
Harm or deceive other people
- impersonate a real person or organisation in a manner intended to deceive;
- harass, stalk, dox, or threaten any individual;
- generate disinformation or election-related content designed to mislead voters;
- run mass automated outreach without proper consent (spam, robocalls, scam patterns);
- attempt to discover personal data about specific individuals without lawful basis.
Abuse the platform
- circumvent rate limits, quotas, or paywalls (proxy chaining, account farming, key sharing across customers);
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the routing logic, system prompts, or model identities;
- conduct load testing or denial-of-service attempts against any component of the Service;
- use the API to power a competing model-arbitrage gateway resold to third parties without prior written consent;
- automate sign-up, login, or billing endpoints.
You agree to follow upstream policies
Your traffic ultimately reaches third-party model providers (Anthropic, DeepSeek, and others). You must comply with their usage policies in addition to ours. A violation of an upstream policy is also a violation of this AUP.
Reporting violations
If you observe abuse you believe involves powapi, please email legal@powapi.io with a description and any artefacts (request IDs, timestamps). We investigate every report and aim to respond within five business days.
Enforcement
We take a graduated approach where the situation allows:
- Notice — for first-time, low-severity violations we contact you with a request to remediate.
- Suspension — for severe or repeated violations we suspend the affected key or account pending investigation.
- Termination — for content that is illegal, harmful, or causes acute risk to others, we may terminate immediately and report to law enforcement where required.
For illegal content (CSAM, credible threats of violence, fraud against identifiable victims), no prior notice will be given.
Changes
We update this AUP as new abuse patterns emerge. Material changes will be announced at least 14 days in advance.
